Making sense of puppy's movements

As Julie Andrews used to sing, Let’s start at the very beginning … days after bringing our puppy Lottie home from the breeder we realised that whilst we thought we had a routine that would help us keeping up with feeding, pee and poo breaks, we were actually following two different schedules. I was doing my thing and my husband was doing his. And Lottie was being taken out about twice as much as she needed, or at the wrong times.

I do love a schedule and am mad about apps, so went onto the App Store and looked for something that would help us keep up to date with Lottie’s movements. Literally.

I found one app that sounded promising and thought I’d give it a try for a day or two. By the end of that weekend I had purchased the Pro version and had installed it on my husband’s phone as well. That app was Pup to Date.

The developer recommend themselves to download the app onto different phones and share the log in details of more than one person is looking after a new puppy. So we didn’t feel like we cheated the system. And given the amount of toys and treats we bought for her in these early days, £3.99 seemed like a good investment.

In three clicks you can enter any event, helping you to see patterns and therefore understanding your dogs behaviour and abilities. It helped us anticipate pee and poo breaks and elongate the time between those bit by bit so that we were able to look after Lottie a lot more sufficiently. She didn’t have to hold too long and we were able to get work done again. Everyone was happy and even though we don’t use the app anymore, we’re still reaping the benefits from this training now.

We have since recommended the app to many of our friends – even those with multiple dogs as the app allows for that as well.
