Make spring time a fun time!

At last, spring has sprung (well, almost!). The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, and our beloved furry friends are emerging from their winter hibernation (okay, squirrels seem to have been out and about throughout winter, but you guys know what I mean!). We’ve put together a little guide to help you make the most of springtime with your pup.

  • First and foremost, it’s important to ensure that your dog is up-to-date with all their vaccinations and parasite control. Springtime is prime tick and flea season, and these pesky critters can cause a lot of discomfort and even lead to serious health issues. Speak to your vet about the best preventative measures for your furry friend. Once your dog is protected from parasites, it’s time to get outside and explore!
  • Spring can be a time when many wild animals, such as bunnies and squirrels, are more active, so it’s important to keep your dog from chasing after them. Spring is also a great time to introduce your dog to new activities. Signing up for obedience or agility training classes, or simply trying out new games or tricks at home, can stimulate your dog’s mind and keep them entertained. Plus, it’s a fun bonding experience for you and your furry friend.

  • Last but not least, spring is a time to stock up on some essential doggy supplies. As the weather gets warmer, your dog may need a new collar or harness for walks. Winter coats like Equafleece are getting too warm for the dogs (at least when we look at our Lottie, who is ready to jump into the ponds on Hampstead Heath again!), so you might want to consider buying a raincoat or just leaving the winter coats off. Yes, that probably means having to bathe the dog after a good walk before they’re allowed on the sofa, but if you treat them to a biscuit or two while doing that, we’re sure they’ll oblige!
We can particularly recommend the Tooth Fairy biscuits. Even if you’ve got an older dog! They are packed with vitamins and minerals to support the health of your puppy’s immune system and are particularly helpful when it comes to digestion – just what you need after that yucky puddle … which, let’s face it, at the moment probably means between puddles, rather than after …

Overall, spring is a wonderful time of year to spend with your furry best friend (yes, we agree – all seasons are great!). With some springtime safety precautions, a little bit of exploration and new activities, and some essential supplies, you and your dog can enjoy all the joys of the season. And for all your doggy (treat) needs, remember to turn to the experts at Poppet & Floof – your loyal companions in all things dog-biscuit related!
